What do you think will happen to all of your social media when you die? What legacy will you live? What will people remember you by?
That is a question that I have always pondered. Now, I’ve read articles about what will happen to your Facebook (etc.) when you die. I don’t remember what it said. So I am going to describe what I think will or should happen. Both will specified.
When you die, life ceases to exist for you. Or does it? Lets talk about that another time but save this post for ‘what happens to your social media.’ I think what will happen that services (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) will end up deleting your profile after x amount of inactive years more for privacy reasons. After maybe 10 years of inactivity after 90 years of use I would say it would be okay to delete a profile. This is also something that I think should happen.
But on a different note, I also think that they should stay. I think it would be cool to have an online library of an individuals entire life. Maybe they don’t have some of the best posts (that wild last friday night) but it defines who that person was and lived to be. So like a scrapbook, I think it would be good to keep a record of this.
Overall, I will admit my argument in the beginning was more towards deleting, but then I thought we might benefit more from these old profiles. You can look online for the amount of Facebook profile of already deceased people. So, would you like your profile saved or deleted after your passing?
Let me know in the comments, I would like to see what people think.
